Micronaire reflects fiber fineness and maturity together. Below 3.5 the mill reads it as immature and discounts the lot; above 4.5 it spins coarse — usually a nutrition and water-timing issue, not a seed problem.

Traps are a monitoring tool first. Install from day 45 and read every third night — the spray decision follows the count, never the calendar.

Retting is where most bast fiber value is won or lost. For Sunn hemp we recommend controlled tank water retting over open pond immersion.
